Australian Vegans and Vegetarians flood the market
Australians seem to be turning their backs on the meat and animal industry in 2017.
A recent study by Mintel Global New Products Database found a 92% increase in vegan products in Australia. The new products are hitting our supermarket shelves and supplying stock to over 40 Sydney meat-free stores.
Earlier this year, research from Roy Morgan also found that over 2.1 million Australians identified as vegetarian in 2016. NSW experienced the biggest rise, with a 30% rise in people opting out of meat.
What else is driving the rise in meat-free diets? Isobel Cootes reports.
